2023

To end the year off nicely in 2023, I had the honour to be interviewed by Andres Garzon in podcast format through Centred.ca an online magazine. You can listen to it by clicking this title ‘Andres Garzon in Conversation with Kim Wilkie’

I just found out that I have also been short listed to 100 artists for the 100 Kellogg Art Comp this year. (2023) I am looking forward to seeing all the artwork displayed there this year along with one of my wall sculptures!

In 2023 I was included in the List of Artists for the yearly “UpwithArt” at Museum London. Here is the link to find out more and what artwork I have submitted to help raise funds for homelessness.

My Solo Exhibition called “Found” 2023 at the St. Thomas Elgin Public Art Centre in St. Thomas, ON. was wonderful this past year.

It was very exciting to exhibit at Westland Gallery’s group exhibit called “Paper and Textiles” London, Ontario, Canada, this past September 2022.

In 2022, I also had a Solo Exhibition at Strand Gallery in London, Ontario called “Cross Section.” Jill Price interviewed me and asked some really good questions about my artwork. The interview is below.

Spotlight on Kim Wilkie

Kim was interviewed on this video, filmed at the Muse Shop + Rental, at Museum London, in 2016. It is now called “Shop Museum London” and you can get to the website Here.

3 Significant Events / My first public exhibition at the St. Thomas Elgin Public Art Centre, 2023, A podcast interview called “Andres Garzon in Conversation with Kim Wilkie, 2023, and the closing of the Garage Gallery Benmiller, 2022.

The St. Thomas Elgin Public Art Centre Exhibition.

The exhibition ran from January 14 to February 18th, 2023 and it was called “Found.”

Here is a video of the “Found” exhibition. It is made from found materials from thrift stores, my home property, my studio and found imagined objects or images in my mixed media paintings. The artworks are a kind of invocation through the materials used, and so by using stuffed animals in the sculptures they become child like but can also be signs or symbols of a spiritual nature. Even the found images in the mixed media paintings seem like memories or dreams, or possibly things to come. I hope all the artworks were enjoyed by everyone young at heart.

Below is a Gallery of stills of exhibit if you don’t have time to watch the 17 minute video.

The Podcast Interview is a post from November 2023. It is also on Spotify, and on Centred.ca an on line magazine through Centred.ca called “Andres Garzon in Conversation with Kim Wilkie”

Here is a link to a review by Madeline Lennon on the online magazine Centred.ca on the Exhibition at the Garage Gallery Benmiller called “Unsettling Nature” with artists Jill Price, Leslie Putnam, Morag Webster and Kim Wilkie.

As of 2022 we have closed the Garage Gallery Benmiller Seasonal Gallery

I am writing here to let everyone know that my husband John and I have decided to close the Garage Gallery Benmiller this year, 2022. We found that we were just a bit out of the way for people to come to see the exhibits here in Benmiller, Ontario. I will continue to work on my art and to exhibit my art in different galleries from here forward. Thank you, to all the artists who exhibited with me here in Benmiller and to those who chose to come to our small gallery to see new contemporary art that we chose to share.

Below are some short videos of each gallery exhibit we had.

I apologize that I did not take a video for the short exhibit in 2017 where Mona Istrati-mulhern, Ruth Maclean, and Linda Wiebe exhibited their work with me in 2017.
