Hello out there! I was a #guestartist at the Goderich Cooperative Gallery in Goderich, Ontario - The exhibit was called “Samplers.” I posted a couple of times on social media and the response was good in Goderich. This exhibit showed #textile and #embroiderywork and one of my #fibrepainting #enpleinair as well. The last few pieces were #acylicpaintings with pencil which combines all #artforms in a #2dimentionalspace. All of these #artworks are, to me, considered paintings because I consider myself to be a painter. These #artworks shown in the exhibit were works I did for the past 10 years. (from 2011) The images below are for those people who did not get to Goderich, Ontario to see the exhibit. #tourismgoderich #goderichont #benmillerontario
Embroidered “Florals” on Abstraction are now at FACTS in Blyth, ON.
Embroidered “Florals” on Abstraction
The six embroidered florals (At the bottom of my Material Paintings Gallery) are inspired by floral bouquets that my husband gives to me bi-weekly. The backgrounds of each floral bouquets were done a few years ago, and when I pulled the dried paint coated linen from the shelve in October last year, (2020) I decided to quickly paint a few of the bouquets and embroider them to completion. It is the embroidery that transforms the entire work. These are being displayed at the FACTS Blyth Shop as one of a kind. Below is a sample of one of the six paintings that I am exhibiting called “Wild Collection.” Below this image is a photo of some of the embroidered florals in the FACTS Blyth Shop Window!

Distractions from Covid 19
The Garage Gallery Benmiller has been closed this past season because of Covid 19. I am hoping to open the gallery in June of 2021. In the meanwhile here is a glimpse of what I have been working on this year and some artworks that I exhibited or donated to good causes.
The Garage Gallery Benmiller will be Closed this 2020 Summer Season.
Covid-19 caught me, at first in denial. I thought that this was just a regular flu, I thought I could manage everything here and just be cautious. What was going on out there that everyone was being so dramatic about? But as I came back into the reality of what was really happening and how I could put people at risk, I had to rethink everything. I waited a bit to see if things got better, but it did not get better and so on May 1st, I made the decision to close our gallery for the 2020 Season to protect the vulnerable. Linda Wiebe, Morag Webster and my work (Kim Wilkie) will be shown in the 2021 Summer Season.
Now, I will be putting more time into my art in the studio, reading, and gardening since we just put in a small green house, which has already been time consuming just setting it up, but I am very excited about it. Below are some recent small intuitive paintings (they could be a little surreal). They are 12 Inches x 12 Inches x1 Inch on wood.
